Getting Here

The Welsh Mountain Zoo is located in the stunning mountain setting of Colwyn Bay, North Wales and is easily accessible by car and public transport.

By Car

The Zoo is just off the A55 expressway. From the A55, exit at the Rhos-on-Sea interchange (Junction 20) – and follow the signs to the Zoo.

From Bangor 35 mins

Caernarfon 40 mins

Wrexham 60 mins

Chester 60 mins

Liverpool 80 mins

Manchester 90 mins

By Train

The nearest train station is Colwyn Bay, approximately 1.5 miles from the Zoo. You can catch a bus or 5-minute taxi from the station to reach us.

Please note our free Zoo mini bus has been suspended for the foreseeable future. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

By Bus

Several local buses serve the area, with stops near the Zoo. Check local bus timetables for routes and schedules.

If you plan on getting to the Welsh Mountain Zoo by bus, please click here for detailed routes and times, throughout the year.

The number 12 bus (Rhyl – Llandudno) has the closest stop to the Zoo. Alight at West End Colwyn Bay. From here, we’d recommend hopping a 2-minute taxi up to our entrance gates.

Find Your Way Around the Zoo

Our beautiful zoo is easy to explore, but please note that some areas are on a hillside with steep paths.

Accessible Routes

Look for the marked wheelchair and pushchair-friendly paths with gentler slopes.

Need help?

Our friendly staff are always nearby! If you can’t find someone, visit the Zoovenirs Gift Shop or Zoo Office for assistance. Enjoy your visit!

Car Parking

We have ample parking available for guests, including designated spaces for Blue Badge holders.

  • Standard Parking: Free for all guests.
  • Blue Badge Parking: Accessible parking spaces are available at the main car park and are close to the Zoovenirs Gift Shop.

Please be aware that on busy days, such as weekends and school holidays, parking may be limited, so we encourage early arrival to secure a spot.
